Welcome to my Resume Page! The first resume you’ll see when scrolling is my original professional resume I have been using the past year. The second and third resume have been put through ChatGPT where I asked it to create two alternate versions of my resume targeted toward different industries. The second resume is targeted to the Marketing industry, and the third resume is targeted to the Finance Industry. The point of this was to successfully use prompt engineering and to reframe our experiences to fit different industries.
To optimize my resume, I used prompts that clearly stated my goals, the specific industries I wanted to target, and I made sure to make sure that ChatGPT understood what I was asking. My prompt was: “Hello! I am working on a website for my IS101 class. I am going to attach my resume, and I need you to tailor the resume to fit into the Marketing Industry and the Finance Industry please reframe my experience to fit both of those industries. Do you understand what I am asking?” I sent my resume and asked the AI to “tailor my resume to fit both the marketing and finance industries,” I also specified that I wanted my experience to fit into each field. Between the original and the AI-generated versions, the most significant changes were in wording. The new wording tailored my experiences to each industry even though my previous experience isn’t in the marketing or finance industry. Through this process, I learned that prompt engineering is essential to getting the results you want. The more specific and detailed the prompt, the more relevant and tailored the response is. I’ve also found it helpful to ask ChatGPT if it understands what I am asking. I also learned how important it is to adapt content to different audiences by choosing the right words for each industry and reframing my experience to make me look like a well rounded candidate.
